Original Stories and Short Animatics
Below is a collection of animatics completed over the years at Ringling. These assignments were meant to get our storyteller brains working and to teach us techniques we could use to tell those stories (montages, creative transitions, parallel editing, etc.).
Pool Hall
Premise: It's Dad's day to take his son on an outing, and what better location than his favorite pool hall! He's got a bit of a gambling problem, so he couldn't resist the chance to bet some cash on a game of 8Ball. The baby will be fine on his own, right?
Blacktop Market
Thesis Pitch 1 - the first story I pitched for thesis before pitching Womb Service
Premise: A young girl has figured out the illicit world of toy dealing at recess, but when money starts flowing she can't resist flexing a bit on the playground, and the Principal takes notice.
Hamster Havoc
Premise: Two pet store hamsters are excited when a girl looking to buy one comes into the store, but she can only adopt one. The two duke it out and try to be the one chosen, but which one is the real winner?
Fair Play
Premise: When a couple goes on a date to the fair, the boyfriend jumps at the chance to impress his girl and win her a prize, but the games are tougher than he expected. Will he win a game, or is he just wasting his money and his girlfriend's time?
Costume Party
Premise: A pair of best friends decide to coordinate their halloween costumes with each other and spend days putting their outfits together. With their two very different personalities, can you really blame them for their misunderstanding?
Shotgun!
Premise: A group of friends on their way to a movie are stalled when two of them call shotgun at the same time, triggering game after game to settle the tie...but they somehow tie in every one.
Gas Station Heist
Premise: A hungry pigeon embarks on a heist to steal a bag of potato chips, but the pesky door keeps foiling his plan!
Stood Up
My first story assignment at Ringling!
Premise: When a frog is seemingly stood up on a fancy date, he starts to give up hope that she will arrive. Right all when hope feels lost, he sees the shadow of someone approaching behind him... only for it to be the restaurants accordion player. Can the musician turn this night around?
